Searching for the best dog food for Goldendoodles? We cover everything your Golden Retriever-Poodle mix needs, also known as a Groodle, Goldenpoo, Golden Poo, or Golden Doodle, below.
Meet the Goldendoodle
The Goldendoodle, also known as a Groodle, Goldenpoo, Golden Poo, or Golden Doodle, is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Originally bred as a larger, low-shedding alternative to the Cockapoo, Goldendoodles were developed for families seeking an allergy-friendlier companion without sacrificing the Golden’s legendary temperament.
They come in Mini (Medium) and Standard (Large) sizes. Both share the same defining traits: social, energetic, highly trainable, and deeply devoted to their families. But “crossbreed” doesn’t mean “no breed-specific considerations”; it means two sets of them.
What Goldendoodles Need From Their Food
Hip dysplasia affects approximately 15-20% of Goldendoodles. Standard Goldendoodles are deep-chested and at elevated bloat risk. The breed’s curly or wavy coat and skin can be prone to allergies. These realities define four nutritional non-negotiables:
- High-quality protein for lean muscle, immune function, and sustained energy
- Essential fats and oils for the signature curly or wavy coat and skin health: balanced fats also help manage the skin sensitivity this cross can carry
- Chondroprotective compounds for joint health and healthy weight: hip dysplasia risk from both parent breeds; every extra pound compounds that pressure
- High digestibility and controlled portions, especially important for Standard Goldendoodles where smaller, precisely measured meals reduce bloat risk
Why GENUINE Dog Food Is the Right Choice for Your Goldendoodle
Over 40% protein from high-quality chicken supports lean muscle. Balanced essential fats and oils nourish the distinctive coat from within. Chondroprotective agents address the joint vulnerabilities inherited from both parent breeds. GENUINE’s high digestibility means maximum nutrition in precisely the right portion, keeping weight where it should be and reducing the digestive stress that puts deep-chested dogs at risk.
With the equivalent of 33 chickens in every bag, your Goldendoodle receives the complete, research-backed nutrition this extraordinary crossbreed deserves.
